The Tarrant County Narcotics Unit (TCNU) has been in existence since January of 1988. It is comprised of three sectors that cover all of Tarrant County and a central administrative unit. The three sectors are comprised of narcotics investigators from local police departments, and the Tarrant County District Attorney’s Office.

Each sector is responsible for narcotics enforcement in their geographical area, but work closely and coordinate their activities with the other sectors. TCNU also is involved in the DEA Task Force that covers Tarrant County and the Northern District of Texas (Federal).

TCNU has seven prosecutors from the Tarrant County District Attorney’s Office that assist the investigators with case filing and prosecution of criminal cases and civil forfeiture cases. These Assistant District Attorneys office in the Central Unit and are available 24 hours a day to advise and assist the narcotics investigators.
