The Tarrant County Criminal District Attorney’s Office is made up of four divisions: Criminal, Civil, Hospital and Specialized Services.

The Criminal Division is the largest and is made up of assistant district attorneys who prosecute criminal cases. The attorneys in the Civil Division give legal advice to Tarrant County’s elected and appointed officials, while the Hospital Division’s attorneys provide a wide range of legal services to the Tarrant County Hospital District. The Specialized Services Division’s attorneys specialize in three specific areas of law: litigation involving child abuse and neglect, involuntary mental health commitments, and protective orders.

All the divisions are overseen by Tarrant County Criminal District Attorney Joe Shannon.
