In an effort to deter people from driving while intoxicated during New Year’s weekend, the Tarrant County Criminal District Attorney’s Office is using a new tool in its arsenal: www.tarrantda.com
In a press conference on Thursday, Tarrant County Criminal District Attorney Joe Shannon informed the public that his office will publish on its newly revamped website the names and ages of those who are arrested from 10 p.m. Friday through 5 a.m. Monday and subsequently charged with an alcohol-related driving offense.
The initiative will run in conjunction with a “No Refusal” weekend, which means participating police agencies in Tarrant County will be using search warrants to take blood from people who are arrested for driving while intoxicated but refuse to take a blood or breath test.
Tarrant County’s law enforcement community hopes these combined efforts will deter people from driving while intoxicated and keep our roads safe this holiday weekend.
Watch the video below to see Assistant District Attorney Richard Alpert speak about the impact driving while intoxicated has had on our community.
